Hiatus

... because I'm lame like that. It's not like I don't have any sketches. Currently, I'm in the middle of moving in with the boyfriend, so expect an even longer pause on this blog and my art blog.

Really Painted Sketches

If you've been keeping up with my art blog updates, you've seen that I've been working on a series of oil paintings for my boyfriend for his birthday/christmas gift. I had some left over paint, so I decided to play around with them. It was partially inspired by Lisa Yuskavage: Small Paintings 1993-2004. In the book, Tamara Jenkins described that the artist would do small painting sketches from memory as a warm-up exercise. Sketching with real paint (as opposed to digital) is so much fun!

If Ronald McDonald and that lewd clown from Children's Hospital had a gayby, it would be this freeaky-deeky thing.

Gasp! A painted "Hair Monster" experiment. I'm not sure where if I'll pursue this ides, but it was still fun to make.

Oh, in case anyone's wondering, these painting were done on the back of my sketchbook. Once they fully dry, I might put them through a scanner for a crisper image.

Scribbles from Hair to Celebs

At this point, I just want to get this post over with since there are so much I want to get done! More detailed information about my "Curses" and "Rapunzels" sketch series will be updated on my art blog soon.

Ugh, the only thing I dislike about drawing from Posemaniacs is how static the image ends up looking when I try to render.

I'm tempted to post this one on the website since it's the only proud thing I've made since graduation.

Lost Rapunzel.

Messy Rapunzel.

Sloppy pen and marker scribblings for warm-up. I need to do these kinds of sketches more often just to get some ideas flowin' without worries and restrictions.

Suppose to be Yo-Landi Vi$$er from "Baby's On Fire".  I cheated a bit by filling in certain areas with the dodge tool.

Suppose to be Grimes from "Genesis".

Finally, suppose to be George Carlin. He is a comedic philosopher. Rough sketch for an illustration I'm making for the boyfriend.

Skinny Walrus Burp

Ideally, I wanted to upload this little comic after I finished making all character profiles, but it'll take forever. Check out the original "Skinny Walrus Cat Shop" if you haven't already. "Skinny Walrus" was the name of our half of the studio back in art school (the other half was "Fat Manatee"); basically, I imagined what my buddies would look like if they were paranormal kitties.

True Story: Clown Kitty is very proper and hates-hates-HATES it when people—especially girls—burps really loudly. As usual, Glutton Kitty lets out a huge one after a nice meal and faces his bitching preaching. Right out of nowhere, Psycho Kitty greets him with an even louder one!

Maybe the description wasn't necessary, but oh well, it's already there. If you're curious about my studio experience, check out my art blog!

Hair-Related, Digital Experiments, and Other

Posting exactly what the title says. I'm gettin' too lazy to add comments to each and every piece, especially after not updating for a while. Recently, I had an artshow at a pretty sweet theater. You can  read all about it on my art blog if you're interested.

Rapunzel

Dancer/Halloween Costume

Rapunzel again.

Falling Rapunzel.

My boyfriend arguing with one of my best friends. Pete is a navy veteran, who's generally indifferent to  people's bitchings; meanwhile, Patrick is a nerd who will bark and yap until everybody's heard what he has to say to death. Pete could probably bite his head off, but he can't and won't bother.

Playing around with new brush settings...

...which lead me to this fan art of Mutio from Blue Submarine No. 6. I love that anime. She's easily everyone's fave character.

Finally, the "other" sketches. Brain poop drawings to remind me how to draw in general.

WIP-ish

I normally dislike one-image posts, but I wanted to show a little something to prove that I've been meaning to update this blog.

Sorry for the poor quality cellphone image (it's not even my phone, haha). Visit my Twitter to see what I'm up to.

Kitty-Doodle-Doo

It's sad how I'm proud of my cat doodles. Well, I still consider the final concept a personal piece since it's for my studio buddies. Cats are fun to draw. Crazy cats are fantastic.

I was actually suppose to be working on another project, but I was started to get stressed and felt like I was going nowhere. I started doodling some felines to relieve the frustrations.

Final product.
Ghost Kitty = Beena Azeem
Clown Kitty = Stass Shpanin
Crawler Kitty = Catherine Johnson
Psycho Kitty = Patrick Dean Fernald
Loopy Kitty = Jessica Fallis
Spirit Kitty = Sandra Chase
Glutton Kitty = Me

I was watching Deadspace: Downfall. Necromorphs are scary and cool... also, very hard to draw.

"Sea Lady" revisited, maybe she evolves into the one on the right. None of my characters stays "cute" apparently.

A gift doodle for my friend, haileyXheartless. It's about time I did this little fanart. I've always enjoyed the simple fun of her alter-egos.

Finally, a girl with a cursed hoodie.

Time for some beauty sleep.

Follow-up Monsters

A small follow-up update for my recent "Hair Monster" studies. Also, the website is updated with the two (technically three) new pieces.

The initial idea for the new "Hair Monster". Something in my gut told me to drop the eye for the final study. This pieces was a fun warm-up though. Gotta love the simplicity of pencil on paper.

The one on the upper right reminds me of the Mothman. I've never understood the greatness or the mystery of that creature. However, I find it funny that depending on how it is drawn, it can either look absolutely ridiculous or creepy as shit.

Tiny update is very tiny.

No Thoughts

Of course, I don't upload everything from my sketchbook. Nothing more to say since I've been starving myself for a BBQ party tonight.

Oh god, it's been a while since I've played with colored pencils!

Skullgirls fan doodle. Three characters I love playing as.

Finally, some anthro OCs I use to drawobsessively for no reason. I especially love drawing "Piggy Pie" tearing her pieces of meat to shreds. If I had split personalities, these girls would be it.

Mini Digi Fashion Sketches

I figured I'd upload some files I had lying around on my desktop before I introduce new drawings in my actual sketchbook, which I haven't even scanned yet. Anyways, I work at a retail clothing store in a mall and see all kinds of fashion. Even if the person "doesn't care" much for what they wear, I think it's such an fun way of seeing personalities (don't get me wrong, I don't judge people by looks).

With this boy, I just wanted to test how I would draw built bodies with this proportion.

These were fun color studies! Never knew underpainting can exist in digital painting as well. It really reminded me how to make an object look "white" without using white. Optical blending is a funny thing.
