Commission Sketches & Misc.

Posting whatever's available in my files. I have so many commissions to do and sketches to color (including works for my art trade with Laura). Well, it's good to have too much to do than nothing at all. On to the sketches, before I go on a depressing ramble:

Brainstorming sketchers for my manager's cupcake business. We decided on two designs, which can be seen here and here on my website. If you're in CT and you'd like some deliciously creative cupcakes for your special occasion, contact Jessica Rydecki's "Piggy Princess Cupcakes" via piggyprincesscupcakes@gmail.com

Color study for a commission. View the final product here. My co-worker wanted her daughter painted in oils. It's been a while since I've done a traditional portrait, so this project was a nice challenge.

Doodling some tattoo ideas for another co-worker. She provided me with lots of references, which was awesome! Gave me a clear picture of what she did and didn't want. You can see the finished design here. It's small and simple, but was a lot of fun.

Sketch for a commission I'm currently working on. My friend, Alicia  wanted my "Hair Monster" with beehive hair. It's great when I can work on my commission and get paid for it!

I saw a bunch of Tari Nakagawa's "Necro Nymph" dollies and I couldn't resist. The lyrics are from "Take Me Over" by Cut Copy (I couldn't stop smiling all throughout the music video).

Mindless doodling with a fun quote from Family Guy, "Be Careful What You Fish For". Seeing Ricky Gervais guest star as a dolphin was an episode worth sitting through.

Boring anatomy sketches that I should do more often. What happened to the me who used to be obsessed with these practices?

Demon girls, nothing special. The red one has lyrics from "Radioactive" by Marina and The Diamonds (again, fun music video because the lead singer is too adorably glamourous).

Hopefully, more to come in the near future.

Sinus Shots

It's mid-March and I've managed to get a cold. Right when I thought I missed the seasonal virus bandwagon, my sinuses get shot. I guess it gives me an opportunity to upload neglected sketches.

My boyfriend's obsession with The Walking Dead makes me want to draw zombies. I'm sick of the zombie fad, but at the same time, I love it.

Portrait study for a commission. My co-worker wants an oil painting of her daughter. She's such a princess. It's been a while since I've done portraits, so this project will be a nice challenge.

I saw this wallpaper and I had to draw it. Behind-the-scenes makeup and mechanics are so cool!

"It's one of those days" type of doodles. Also, testing out newly downloaded pencil brushes. I'm trying to find a nice medium between textured and smooth rendering.

I'm going to Japan in April. This bitter doodle is me illustrating my fear from a few summers ago. Since I'm born and raised in the US, I'm more of an "American" than "Japanese". When we had a family reunion, I got a lot of dirty looks that said, "She's Japanese, but she's not acting like one of us—what's wrong with her?" At least I speak both languages and have an understanding of both cultures. I'd like to see them survive a day in New England without and guidance.

I've been doing a lot of digital doodling just to get use to drawing on the computer. However, it's not as fulfilling as traditional sketching. It's definitely helped me with relearning colors though.
